Recognizing the role that public policy plays in preventing and responding to trauma, on the one hand, or causing and exacerbating trauma on the other, our advocacy efforts engage policymakers, coalitions, and grassroots organizations from across the political spectrum, at the state and federal levels, to advocate for policies that reduce harm and provide opportunities for healing and growth.

Increasing resources for training, implementation, and programs that are trauma-responsive;
Expanding trauma-informed approaches to law enforcement, corrections, and community corrections;
Promoting policies that prevent, anticipate, and respond appropriately to childhood trauma in education and other settings where children are effected;
Addressing trauma among people who use drugs and ensuring access to trauma-informed behavioral health, healthcare, and human services;
Centering the voices of trauma survivors in policy discussions that relate to their experiences or effect their outcomes.
