Informational presentation on the definition and nature of trauma and key psychological and behavioral consequences. Brief opportunities for reflection and discussion.
60-75 minutes
Deeper exploration of the nature of trauma, key psychological and behavioral consequences, and the relationship of trauma to forms of professional distress. Concepts of resilience and posttraumatic growth are introduced. Increased opportunities for reflection and discussion.
90-120 minutes
Learn and discuss the six principles of trauma-informed care in connection with a deeper exploration of trauma, its consequences, and components of recovery and posttraumatic growth. Participants reflect on the relationships between trauma-informed principles and the specific harms of trauma each is intended to address.

Building on knowledge and practice of trauma-informed care principles, professionals learn about the GOTR framework for applying trauma-informed care principles to support resilience, strength, and posttraumatic growth while making the work more enjoyable and connections more meaningful.

After completion of Foundations of GOTR, participants engage in reflections, discussions, observations, and practice to understand and apply the GOTR framework in their interpersonal engagements with people they serve and work with. Observation, discussion, and practice are central to this training.

This comprehensive training package offers a complete experience for participants, allowing them to gain a practical understanding of the psychological impacts of trauma and other forms of suffering, inclluding professional distress, trauma-informed care principles, and their application through the GOTR framewok for continued practice.
